A shoreline at dusk is dominated by tall, decaying tower-like formations that seem to fuse metal and organic material together. Large, egg-like forms lie at their bases amid a scattering of debris and small details across the ground, while the horizon opens onto a still, golden sea.
The painting represents a later stage in Wahlberg's career, in which the new-realist and abstract vocabularies of the 1960s developed further into more surreal, dreamlike landscapes.
